Before you play Bomb Squad, you should really do yourself a favour and read the manual - or at least look for a guide on YT explaining how the game is meant to be played.
The gist is this: There are modules scattered in a grid-like pattern whose function is to reveal a digit(refered to the game as a 'code'). It can be anything from 0-9, and your objective is to find this particular digit. However, the only way you can figure out what the digit is, is by entering any of these particular modules, and inside them you get a view similar to a circuit board. In here, you need to defuse or replace certain parts of machinery, according to the instructions you receive from the Intellivoice. If you follow these instructions correctly and "fix" the module, and zoom out to the grid view, it should reveal a spot that may be either a strong green, or a faded brown.
Uncovering many green tiles will form the pattern of a digit, and once you have solid evidence which of the 10 digits it is, that is the secret code. If you input this correct code before the time is up, you save the city and win the game. There are three difficulty modes which offer a code with a span of one to three digits.
Bomb Squad is a guessing game similar to battleship that also requires disciplined and delicate tool working in removing and replacing components which tests your skills of minimising defusal time and efficiency. It's nothing to write home about, but it's a standout title for the Intellivision.
I recommend playing it on MAME or MESS, and make sure you have the Intellivoice up and working, otherwise playing the game in silence renders it completely unfunctional.
