Between Bloodborne being nominated for GOTY at the game awards and this new DLC dropping I've had more than enough reasons to jump back into the nightmare that is Yharnam! Man, in an age where most DLC and expansion packs are total rip offs these Japanese developers really know how to dish out valuable content. For 20 bucks you're getting two brand new areas to explore (plus an extended portion of Yharnam called the River of Blood), 5 new bosses, and tons of new weapons and items. For me, it was all about the new beast mode joint, I got a freakin gattling gun now and a sword with a large saw at the end of it!!! The Amygdala arm was a pretty sweet weapon too with a monstrous attack range but I rarely used it. I'd recommend playing this DLC AFTER you've completed the main game because these areas/bosses are hard as balls and you're gonna want your character to be pretty stacked before going in!!!
The River of Blood was a challenging section because there were a lot of really large and aggressive enemy types thrown at you, and you may or may not run into the Blood Starved Beast again...... Stay away from that mysterious looking cave is all I'm sayin...... The Research Hall was the creepiest looking area in this DLC but I thought it was a pretty easy section outside of the annoying acid traps. But the Fishing Hamlet was prolly the most brutal section in the game, not only because of these massive anchor wielding fish-man dudes but also that annoying hunter that keeps invading your game!!! This DLC also has some of Bloodborne's most challenging bosses, Laurence and the Living Failures weren't too bad but the first boss Ludwig was an absolute jack a** once he starts wielding the moonlight sword, and Lady Maria is a problem when she starts hurling blood at you and doing that crazy fire sh**! But it's the last boss, Orphan of Kos that f***ed me up the most, when he goes into his second form I don't even know what's going on, there's just s*** flying at me in all directions!!!
This is how to do DLC, and what a fantastic way to celebrate the masterpiece that is Bloodborne! I do wish that this was just a tad bit longer but honestly the stiff challenge kinda makes up for it! If you own Bloodborne you'd be crazy not to play this!!!

entering the fishing hamlet makes me cry, every single time. it makes me think of Japan's Epidemic Prevention and Water Purification Department or Nazi physicians in the death camps
I genuinely think this DLC is one of the best things to happen to gaming.
But Ludwig is overrated and sucks to fight at any level other than being completey maxed out and is emblematic of the worst and most janky things to game has to offer, exacerbated by its poor technical performance.

Kos and Lady Maria are the GOATs tho
