ATV Quad Power Racing

A respectable effort as far as PS1 off-roading games go. The physics are fun and bouncy, and the music is alright. But these tracks are pretty dang long, and the game runs at a sludgy slow frame rate around 20 fps. Because of this, races can drag on past 7 or 8 minutes at times, which is mind numbing when you’re thoughtlessly bouncing around bumps and turns the whole time. It doesn’t have much content either (3 environments with a few layouts each), and the track design is iffy. Probably too narrow and twisty considering the track lengths. Though I’d much rather have that than something flat and lifeless.

A pretty fun ATV racing game on its own with some interesting tracks and fun movement. The soundtrack though, holy shit- it goes from Pantera riffage in the forest maps to some fucked cake/smash mouth mixture in the desert. The winter maps have the soundtrack of mission impossible if the sound direction came more from Limp Bizkit than James Bond.

Other than its soundtrack and playable Asuka character from Evangelion though, it can be easily overlooked by the ATV Offroad Fury series which came only a year later.
