Assassin's Creed III: Liberation

Man, what a missed opportunity. I understand that this was a lower budget side game made for the Vita, so of course it wasn't going to be a fully featured AC game with all the bells and whistles, but they still could've done a whole lot more. Graphically, it's really impressive, considering it was originally a Vita game; although you can tell that it was on the Vita with things such as the character models and animations in the cutscenes. Aveline is a really cool protagonist, being the first female protagonist the series got, and the mechanics relating to her intersectionality were really cool, being able to hide within nobility as well as blending in with the crowds of normal folk. The main problem with the game is that everything feels half-baked. The plot, while has many cool moments, does feel like it's missing a lot, with scenes flying by one after another with little bridging them together. The characters don't really have anything to remember them by, outside of Aveline and maybe her mother. The swamps are kind of annoying to explore, with poorly telegraphed paths, and overall, there's just not much to do. You beat the pretty short plot, and then there's just nothing. Even the mandatory Ubisoft collectibles are poorly done, with them not even appearing on the map. There's just not much to this game. I think it deserves another shot from Ubisoft. Maybe a sequel or at least a return to Aveline. Another point to add is the Switch version that I played. There's just a lot of strange things about it, such as it running at 900p on Docked, despite AC III running at 1080p, in portable mode, the framerate is unlocked, leading it to wildly swerve from 30fps to 60fps. At least it came free with AC III.
