Not for me. Story and atmosphere weren't interesting enough to keep me playing through the less than satisfying puzzles and combat. Does not hold up to modern standards.

Completed campaign single player. Immediately enjoyed the gameplay here more than Combat Evolved. You move faster and jump higher, and shooting is more visceral and satisfying. Plus dual wielding and more weapons, like the sword, held my interest. Also, the only vehicles you could drive in Combat Evolved were the Warthog, Ghost and Banshee as far as I can remember, and Halo 2 has a lot more to work with. I think the story is a little more focused in Combat Evolved, but H2 is ambitious with more characters, and it’s cool how you get to play as the Covenant. Overall maybe I enjoy Combat Evolved a bit more even though H2’s gameplay is a lot better. Combat Evolved’s levels and characters are more memorable, giving it a classic feel that H2 lacks. I give the games the same rating of 6.5. Don’t need to replay this solo. If I do, play with anniversary graphics on which seem quite good.

Completed the campaign single player. Thought the first few levels were fun and charming, basically through the Library. They're large with nice sky boxes and compelling enough gameplay, and the music is great. The second half of the game has smaller levels with byzantine layouts, and I was ready for it to be over by the end. Warthog controls are floaty and annoying, especially in the last level when you need a lot of precision. I wouldn't play this again single player, but would try it with a friend who wanted to experience it. The last level especially would be better with a friend to split shooting and driving the Warthog with. Could be fun just to replay the first few levels solo? Idk
