It's really depressing that this is the only survival horror dinosaur game of note even though it's over 20 years old. It had so much that could be improved in later games or spiritual successors but sadly all we're left with is a pretty good first outing that suffers a distinct lack of dinosaur variety and an over reliance on raptors who's large size quickly becomes a major annoyance. Regina is a very fun protagonist though and has the same charm as many of the best RE protags.

A more enjoyable gameplay experience than it's predecessor that amends some of the original's biggest problems, lack of dinosaur variety and an arguable over abundance of puzzles, means many will enjoy dino crisis 2 more than the first game. I personally enjoyed it more than the game that came before but i think the choice to abandon survival horror and pivot to arcadey action robs the game of what made the original so great. Of course it still manages to be great in it's own right but it makes me wish this game was a spin off and not a numbered entry so the series could focus on survival horror and delegate action entries to their own little corner. Despite my wishes for this game to be survival horror it still manages to be one of the only noteworthy action games about dinosaurs which is more a testament to the lack of dinosaur games than dino crisis 2 itself. I mean come on how are Dino Crisis 1 and 2 in seperate genres and both around 20 years old but still the dominant dinosaur games
