Calia Menethil

A character in the Warcraft series. She is the daughter of Terenas Menethil II and the sister of Arthas Menethil.

After her brother became a Death Knight in service of The Lich King and killed their father during the third war Calia escaped the capital city and fled to Southshore. She remained in hiding for a while but was discovered by the now-undead priest Alonsus Faol. Luckily for Calia Alonsus despite being undead had broken free from the Lich King's control and the two went into hiding together. Alonsus trained Calia to be a priest while they were in hiding.

Many years later during World of Warcraft: Legion they were both important members of the Priest Order Hall. In between this expansion and the next, Calia is one of the people who attempt to reunite the undead in Lordaeron with their living family members in a joint Horde and Alliance event called the "Gathering." The event is deliberately sabotaged by Sylvanas Windrunner who sees even the idea of this as an usurpation of her power. She also takes the opportunity to eliminate Calia who she sees as a threat to her power as the current ruler of Lordaeron seeing as Calia was a princess of Lordaerons last ruling family. So Calia is killed in the chaos of the Gathering but Alonsus and other priests raise her in undeath but with the power of the Holy Light.

In World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth Calia helps Jaina Proudmoore by taking in her brother Derek Proudmoore who had recently been raised in undeath himself. She gladly agrees to this and Derek starts to work for Calia.

In the absence of Sylvanas after the events of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands the undead in Lordaeron needs new leadership and a group called the Desolate Council is formed of prominent Forsaken like Calia and Lilian Voss to fill the role. Derek becomes a champion of Calia after her ascension to the Desolate Council.
