Amaray Case


A 190mm×135mm case similar in height to a VHS tape.

Example: Live From Austin TX (Referred to by some retailers as a "Keep Case")



CD Sized Album Replica


A 5" CD packaged in a scaled-down version of the original LP cover. Do not use if the CD sleeve differs notably from the original; also do not use if there is no original LP.

Example: ... (In this instance, a gatefold cover in a protective plastic slip case with postcard replicas that were included with the original release. Popular in – but not exclusive to - Japan)



Digibook


A Digibook is a hardcover package featuring bound pages like a book and a plastic tray or paper sleeve which holds the media (CD or DVD). This should not be confused with the packaging, which does not contain a hardcover nor bound pages.

Digibooks are gatefold. Therefore, do not use the attribute in combination with Digibook, since it is redundant.





Digipak


By patent, a Digipak is a cardboard package wrapped around a plastic CD/DVD tray. If no plastic tray is present, it is not a Digipak and attribute should be used instead.

Digipaks are rectangular-shaped (by patent). Square-shaped digipaks exist, but are an extremely rare exception.

Digipaks are gatefolds (by patent). Therefore, do not use the attribute in combination with Digipak, since it is redundant.

, Digifile, Digisleeve: those are different packages. Do NOT use the Digipak attribute in such cases.

Gatefold


A cover or jacket that opens like a book. For CD/DVD releases, the attribute is typically used in combination with the Gatefold attribute. Do not use Gatefold in combination with ; it is redundant, since a Digipak is gatefold by patent.

Example: Acquiring the Taste (Does not denote number of discs. Many gatefolds were single disc releases and a lot of two disc sets were not issued in gatefolds)

Handmade


Not to be confused with "Homemade"… even if you used your own hands to burn it.

A release in the artist's handmade or home-assembled package



Jewel Case (DVD only)


DVD placed in a CD Jewel case.

MusicPac / SlidePac


MusicPac or SlidePac is a carboard package with a open sliding lateral plastic tray which holds the media (CD or DVD). Cover usually contains a cut for easy slide of the tray. To avoid redundancy, do not use in conjunction of this attribute.

If the paper/cardboard packaging does not contain a sliding plastic tray which holds the media, then it's not a MusicPac/SlidePac; for these, use instead.



No Artwork [Digital]


Use for digital files without cover art.

Example: In Rainbows

Paper/Cardboard Sleeve


Use for formats that would normally have plastic outer packaging, such as CDs, DVDs, cassettes, etc. This attribute may be combined with .

Do not use this attribute for vinyl releases.

Do not use this attribute for issues with slipcases over normal plastic packaging; for those, use instead.

Do not use this attribute for cardboard sleeves that are exact replicas of vinyl release covers; for these, use instead.



Gatefold:


Slipcase / O-Card


Slipcases (or O-cards) are four or five-sided sleeves (shaped like an O) which slide over a CD, DVD or cassette case. The sleeves are typically paper or cardboard but can also be plastic. Do not use in conjunction or instead of this attribute, they are not the same thing (see photos).

Also do not confuse this attribute with Box Set. Slipcases are sleeves which could hold one or more cases, but it's not considered a box.

If the optical media is housed in a sliding plastic tray in a cardboard packaging, with no case, then it's a . If there's no plastic tray nor case, then just use .



USB/Flash Drive


Use for digital files sold on USB/Flash drives.



Digifile & Digisleeve


There currently are no specific attributes for these types of CDs, but "Paper/Cardboard Sleeve" + "Gatefold" should be checked, because that's essentially what they are.
