"10cc sounding like Frank Zappa is a new one on me (see other reviews).Am having a hard time getting my head round that."
Here's how I - and probably some of the other people who drew the connection - see it. Zappa (and I mean early Zappa, circa Freak Out!, not jazz fusion Zappa) and 10cc both parody pop. The reason why they might not seem the same initially is because they parody different eras and types of pop - Zappa was focused on the doo-wop of his era, where 10cc more strike out against AOR, soft rock, and that sort of thing, but they're among a small handful of artists (Sparks, who have grown on me since I wrote that review, and a few others come to mind, but not many others) who focus on picking apart pop conventions and doing a strange combination of celebrating and mocking them. Hence the connection.
Hi I messaged u earlier about the album sugar road. The site will not let me send more than one pm right now. I was wondering if you could email me, Samantha13086@gmail.com. I have a few more questions I would like to ask you. Thanks.
