Game collection
I don't review much; just gonna put that out there.
To expand on my gimmicky rating scale:
5- Absolutely essential (to my collection). May have minor flaws, but I love it anyway.
4.5- Excellent; highly recommended.
4- Great; has a lot to offer (to me, anyway).
3.5- Good; generally recommended.
3- Either:
a. I don't like it, but it has something going for it, or
b. It's nothing special but I like it anyway, or
c. Eh, no strong feelings.
2.5- Disappointing; may have a gem or two, but probably not worth the effort.
2- Just bad.
1.5- Disgusting; I try to pretend it doesn't exist.
1- Insufferable; knowing it exists is painful enough.
.5- Kill me now; has no right to exist.
For the time being, .5-1.5 are reserved for singles. I see no need to spend time with albums that I suspect I might dislike; singles, however, I'm frequently exposed to whether I want to be or not, and it's easier for me to justify saying "this one song is worthless" compared to "this whole album is worthless". I'm sure there are some out there, I just don't plan on hearing them.
I rate and review to share what I enjoy and what I value. I harbor no pretensions about my favorite albums actually being the greatest of all time. Similarly, when I give a low rating to a critically acclaimed album, I'm not trying to say that it doesn't deserve its accolades or that it isn't as innovative as people say or anything like that, I just don't enjoy listening to it. If you can accept that as my perspective, we'll get along fine.
