Game collection
Well, i've been on this site for almost six years, it's probably time i write something here.
i hate rating my music. Most of what's in my collection i like to some varying degree, so most of my ratings are in that nebulous 3 to 4½ stars region, and i've practically stopped rating altogether. i started using this site as a recommendation engine, but it really doesn't work all that well as that. For me the site is now more "Catalog Your Music" or "List Your Music."
My taste as you can tell, is all over the place, and it frequently changes. These days my "home base" genres are experimental/avant-garde, progressive rock, psychedelia and folk, but i also have a strong affinity for good pop music (real pop, not "dance-pop" or top 40), new wave/post-punk, and the usual alt/indie stuff. Liking so many genres means i'm an expert in none of them, and my collection sucks compared to someone's who specializes. Also, i no longer know what the kids are listening to.
As an old man i have a strong preference for physical formats, and i almost never purchase digital formats. That being said, the only digital formats that i list in my collection are those i've either legally purchased, those that are freely available online, or those that i've otherwise legally obtained.
Oh, and as far as i'm concerned this is still Rate Your Music. i like movies, and i own DVDs and stuff, but the only movies i list are directly related to music. i recognize that i'm the only holdout.
