Ok, it will take me years to add albums one by one as I listen to and review them, so perhaps it will be best to inventory everything and then go back and rate and review. It was a good idea, just too time consuming one at a time!
I'll write more later but..... as many here are, I too, am a music nerd. In the past few years I began to discover some great underground psych bands and it has since become somewhat of a passion. Before that, my tastes always laid far outside the mainstream. Most radio only seems to irritate me and very, very rarely turns me on to anything new. Because of that, I quiet often will purchase music without hearing it, based on nothing more than reading some good reviews from trusted places or it just having a cool cover. My favorite band ever is, and I figure pretty much always will be, The Church.
This is actually my second go round on RYM. My hope is to be a bit more organized and make sure to note the pressings I own as well as keeping up with the medium of each title that I own. It also provides a great opportunity to go back and listen again to many of the lp's-cd's I own with fresh ears and a more organized way of rating. I'm going to try my best to rate each song on each lp in increments of .25 and then average them together. I expect that my "bell curve" wont be as pronounced as others as I pretty much like most of what I buy tho' there a few duds. Please comment, suggest, argue or whatever. It is here that I have learned of many lp's that I previously had little to no knowledge of before and I hope to learn more so please feel free to suggest.
I expect that it will take awhile to inventory everything,as I am going to take my time, listen to an album anew when the chance arises, rate it and then review it. An excersise in nerdiness? Sure, but it's also a great way to relax.
