For me, a 4.5 means I loved it and I think it's brilliant, just not quite a masterpiece. I agree with the reference to Elliott Smith, it's actually the first thing I thought of when I heard this album. Such a quiet tone of greiving, yet still under all that optimistic. My favorite song is "No Shade in the Shadow of the Cross". For me it's the most intensely personal track on the whole album, which is saying something.
