I haven't read all your stuff yet (that project: pending), but I must commend you on a really engaging, well-written piece on 36 Chambers. I couldn't agree with you more on the album; a stone cold classic and a litmus test for all hip-hop fans.
haha, yeah, a lot of my vitriolic reviews are usually written while drunk/thinking i'm being funny or shit, so no one should ever take 'em at face value. never been able to get into that record for the life of me though. my loss! anyway Well Met Noble RYM Dude
Thank you sir! The Nas and Jay-Z tracks you mention were definitely contenders. It's weird how when you compile a list like that at first it seems daunting and then once you get going you realize how there is simply not enough room. I didn't put any Green Day on, I could have probably included some Metallica, GNR, and Deftones as a shout-out to the harder stuff, etc. etc. etc.
Hey, thanks man. I really appreciate it. Whenever someone says something good about the stuff I write, it's astounding to me, because I feel like I'm talking out of my ass in my reviews haha. So yeah, I see you love hardcore music, too and it definitely is empowering music! And you are right about hip hop music and how people approach it with ignorant attitudes. That definitely irks me too. I try to approach music with a universal attitude and not have any sort of expectation with any type of music and I guess that could be said about any art form. Of course, while it is unavoidable we are bound to have dislikes but if we approach things with an open mind, we are bound to stumble upon a lot of discoveries of great art. Anyway, I could ramble on and on, but thanks for the good comments! Really feel more motivated to write more reviews now, because of you! haha
