I wish they would made a scene with Mr. Bean in a gallery with abstract paintings. He probably would have appreciated the quality of the acrylic paint...
Finally got around to listening to this compilation which I promised you I would do before the end of LAST year, but didn't. It's amazing as you said it was. Finally, I've succumbed to adding a compilations to my collection.
I am trying to figure out something. Can anyone help me? You see, while listening to Kings & Thieves, I had to get out a pen and a piece of paper while listening to the song Take a Bullet. My first thought was to draw a stick figure of some guy with a gun shooting it at some bald headed dude with one of those circle mustache/goatee things on his face. (He did say he would "Take a bullet!") My second thought was to count how many times the phrase I'd Take a Bullet was repeated by that bald headed dude. I counted 26 times in 3:47 and one improvised "a bullet" so I think that should count as 27 times. What is this song called again? My third thought was to write down how many times in my life I have heard more pathetic prog rock keyboards during a song. I am very old, and I can honestly tell you I did not need the pen or paper as I have NEVER heard anything this pathetic. My fourth and final thought was to write down what group of folks I thought had kidnapped the singer and forced him to sing this crap. I am sure these kidnappers are going to ask for a HUGE ransom or they will be forced to make this singer sing on their next album, too!
Here is why I need your help. I want to know which of these four thoughts is the most pathetic? Before you decide, have a listen to The Warning and Operation: Mindcrime. Maybe a better question to answer after listening to those two albums is whether "pathetic" is a strongest enough word? Is there a better word I should be using? FUBAR??
Folks, the rest of the album is not any better. In fact, I think it may even be worse! The songwriting is incredibly simple if you haven't guessed that already. There is nothing remotely catchy about any of the songs unless you like some horrible saxophone playing or some unnecessary narration that sounds like it could have been from a 70's porno movie!
I don't want you to think that all is bad about Kings & Thieves. There is the inspirational song These Glory Days that talks about God and "doing the right thing", "praising God" and "raising your hands". It shouldn't be long until the Christian Music blogs are touting this song as the rock song of the year for 2012!
The final 2 songs of the album have some beautiful keyboard work. Unfortunately some dude has to go and sing and ruin the moment. If this is not bad enough, that pathetic saxophone returns and has to go and squawk on the final song, too!
Folks, my expectations for Kings & Thieves were pretty low, but I did not think it could possibly be this bad. None, that's right none, of these songs should have ever been recorded. They really are that bad!

BTW You don't seem to have rated or catalogued Éthiopiques 4: Ethio Jazz & Musique Instrumentale 1969-1974 as far as I can tell. If you haven't heard already, you might appreciate it.
