EyeScream comes from one of my favorite Prince songs, "In this Bed Eye Scream" along with a play on words with "ice cream." Clever, huh?
My lists are just for fun. I often try to figure out what I like the most & love making all kinds of lists. These are simply my favorites & NOT a judgment upon anyone's music! I don't even sing or play so I'm not gonna say, "this is better than that." Since I was a child, I liked counting down songs. Similar to American Top 40, I did weekly (sometimes monthly) countdowns ranging from 10 songs all the way up to 100 songs/week during the R&B boom in 1991-93. These yearly countdowns are from those charts. The order continues to change as I temporarily grow tired of some overplayed or commercialized songs & discover others. These charts reflect part of where I stand with the songs now & part the way I liked them back then. Songs that have been played to death like "Celebration" or "Eye of the Tiger" struggle to have the same impact they did at the time. I still try to give them some credit to show that I did like them at one point in the past. Some songs from the past I had not heard at the time of the countdown; such as not knowing Prince until 1982, but going back & putting his 1979-81 songs on these charts. Being in a commercial can hurt a song, such as the Cars' "Just What I Needed" being used by Circuit City. It fell from #1 in 1978 down to #20 before slowly rising to #4 again (after the commercial's use faded out).

Do you know what should be even more interesting though? Your Weekly Charts. I know it would be crazy to transport all of the weekly charts to the rym database, but it would to be so rad to actually see some of your 80's weekly rankings
I used to run a Personal-50Singles-Weekly Chart. The last couple of years it became a pain in the ass, so I had to discontinue it.
I came up with an easier-to-compile Personal Chart (for me anyway). I call it the 'Catalog Tracks Charts', in which any song (released as a single or not) can be ranked in a Top 20. It's funner to do, and easier too.
I just love Personal Charts. It's like taking a peek inside someone else's music life. So... to see that more people enjoy Personal Charts as much as I do, is kind of... vindicating for me hahah.
Alright... my best Regards, and keep it up!
What's your current #1?
