Those are some great bands, it's true, the genre has a lot of fluff. I still like some of the obscure Japanese groups of the genre, like Dead Romance

Yeah, there's a few Japanese black metal acts and a ton of Japanese stoner metal and power metal. Other than that Japanese acts are slim.

Thanks for the recommendations, checked out Eternal Champion, seems really good. I haven't really found the time to listen to too much new music in the past year or two, which is a shame, but my own music career really limits it - it's more about my own attitude, obviously, since the time I have for actually listening to music, I rather just use it to listen some of my personal favorites rather than checking out new stuff. I'm always open for recommendations, though.
