i think if i ever write another big review of something, it'll be of either of those two tapes (or both). i think the label of "amateur" is misapplied, and i'd like to spend some time thinking about why. i think almost everyone could agree that the tapes have many of their best songs, i've just gotta make a case for the rest, and the overall structure of it. idk
"You probably have the taste in music I most agree with on this site btw" ahhhh it's not mee, nah jk s_f is indeed the bomb. ha ha Tell me when ever you get to listen to PiL or Lowercase, I'd like to hear your thoughts on those two bands. and if you want more good post-punk check out Pere Ubu, The Fall, Killing Joke, The Pop Group, etc.
Well then no rush, enjoy yer school year and friends. Post-Punk to me connected all the dots with the punk stuff I liked before and after, and I'm still finding different bands in it. Perverted By Language is a great album, make sure to check out this bonus track from the same album. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fh7fXi3ivZY
and yeah sol is way more sophisticated and intelligent than mine, uh my favorite jazz album is Ask the Ages I still need to check out more Coltrane and Miles Davis heh heh
Is Hotel Bloedel yr fav song of theirs? or at least top 30? Sorry for rating it that low. I really like it Brix's singing & the whole atmosphere of the track. For me PBL is so well-balanced between the sides of the Fall I really like, they're are the quicksand-y, repetetive songs (EYF, Garden, Tempo House, Hexen Definitive / Strife Knot) while the others are immediate and hard-hitting (NOI, Smile, I Feel Voxish, the bonus tracks), HB is kind of like in-between the two, and not at the same time, it works well as a breather.
