Hey man, I've been putting off checking out Amplifier for a long time because their music didn't look terribly interesting to me. Now that I've heard their debut album, I can say that my first impression was right all along. I've heard few other bands slapped with the 'prog' label feature such dull songwriting, which is irritating because there's nothing inherently wrong with the album otherwise. The thing is, people often neglect how boundary-breaking, all-encompassing Oceansize's music was; it's not just about playing glorified post-grunge tunes and slapping an 'alt-prog' label on 'em. So when someone mentions a band like Amplifier in the same way as Oceansize, it doesn't make much sense to me.
