Game collection
Adding releases in the vague order they were acquired.
Pro's: Looks good, can get a great view of musical taste as each year goes by, once complete, adding new stuff automatically follows the pattern.
Con's: Taking forever (I might be dead before it's complete), Plenty of fav bands still not added as I haven't technically 'discovered' them yet.
--- Holy shit, this is taking forever. I'm going through old music magazines (NME's, Melody Maker's, Q's, Selects, Mojo's etc), sometimes as many as 8 per month, and adding/correcting EVERY thing I come across. I should seriously be selfish and just work on those records that are at least semi-important, and forget the rest.----
You are (generally) looking at the music collection/taste of a 19 year old (up to '99), and a film collection/taste of a 15 year old (up to '95)
To counter some of this, see http://rateyourmusic.com/~LBJefferies for a quick short collection of my more recent acquisitions.
Blues, Comedy, Country, Electronic, Folk, Jazz, Pop, Rhythm & Blues, Rock, Singer/Songwriter, Ska, Soundtracks, Vocal Group, Classical Music
I think its time I started rating more. Also, maybe a quick review each day?!?
In theory, I could easily rate all the Beatles records *****, as I do believe they're all top notch, but I've decided to rate in relation to many factors, generally how well this song(s)/collection stands against the rest of that bands discography.
i.e how important this particular release is to their "canon", how influential/inspirational this release is to the future of this and other bands output, and finally judging it against what else was around at the time.
My collection has alot of "others". These are items I've had at one time or another, but havent located them yet. Once I find/add them, I'll alter them to the relevant format.
