What a ridiculous thing to say. The only way someone's opinion can be invalidated is if it's uninformed, and that's not the case here. This is a matter of taste. I've listened to both albums extensively and I find Weezer to be bland and uninspired and The Jonas Brothers, although they have a very manufactured feel, to have more energy.
As a matter of fact, given that you appear to own neither of the albums that you are criticizing my taste on, it is your opinion that is invalidated rather than mine.
Way to not address my points. You attacked me for having an opinion on two albums you don't own, and you were a little shithead about it. I don't need to take that from some punk ass little bitch from Tennessee who listens to power pop on the radio and thinks they have a brilliant opinion on music.
Regardless of all of that, neither Weezer nor The Jonas Brothers are rated very high so it doesn't matter that one's higher than the other - I didn't like either of them.
Hey fuck you man, that list isn't my favorite metal songs it's the metal songs I'd play someone if I wanted them to like metal, read the description asshole.
Also, way to continue not addressing my points.
And as for power pop - some of the bands you've rated five stars include Fall Out Boy, Modest Mouse, and fucking Saves the Day. If you're going to tell me those aren't power pop bands then you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.
I have more respect for Weezer as a band because a. they're not teenagers, b. they've been around a while, and c. they're not owned by the disney corporation, but I like A Little Bit Longer more than The Blue Album. Like I said though, I don't really like either of the albums much at all. I don't think the difference between 2.5 stars and 3 stars is worth worrying about.
People have to be eased into new music. None of the songs on that list are serious thrash metal, and they're all pretty soft. They're far from my favorite metal songs, but I think people who had never listened to metal before might like them enough to consider listening to more of the genre.
Have you noticed that fall out boy only has one album that even ranks above a 3? That doesn't make them a bad band, but it means that you're in the minority of people who think that they write good music. You're fighting a losing battle trying to convince anyone, me especially, that they deserve our respect.
Of course you can find a song by MM that's not power pop, but you could do that for any band. "If you call Metallica thrash metal, you don't know what you're talking about," I could say. "Look at The Unforgiven and tell me that it's thrash metal." "You think Pink Floyd is progressive rock? Hah. Just look at Young Lust." Modest Mouse has a lot of power pop songs, and given that the song that gave them mainstream success is most definitely power pop they can be classified as power pop, amongst other things.
You generalize a lot, by the way. You base opinions about an entire band on a single album they put out and opinions about people based on a single review they wrote. That's just something to think about.
