Bennett's commentary, the gentle encouragement, the blues standards that play whenever you fall, and the very natural, hacked-together arrangement of the mountain you scale all contribute to a tone that is much more like a slow, determined trek up a real-world hill than a high-stakes conflict. You really learn to take failure in stride and see it not as a loss of progress, but as another step in your walk. You learn to be self-motivated and persistent. It's a simple message, but it's one which is both undersold in gaming, and one which can only be shown through the medium of gaming. I urge people who are turned off by the label of rage game to give this a try; it's incredibly rewarding.
