It's a by-product of intense collections of mental and emotional warmth and light, a further by product of compassion. Tis the sensation of having one's affirment of life realized. I've had these, and honestly, it's hard not to start think of drastically different paradigms of natural reality when in one.
When is the simplest explanation necessary? ... The ironic answer is there is no simple answer. HAH! Isn't philosophy funny like that? In fact, aren't I minds funny like that? HAH!
Purely contextual, simply put (how ironic >_>). Depends on individual preference, social environment, purpose of dialogue, etc... But what is simplicity? Perhaps it's a singular paragraph or phrase, or what is enough to convey one singular thought-point a system of other thought points? Complexity being necessary when one wants to point out implications and connotations?
Are we nothing more than basic computer programs? Are we nothing more than simplistic A.I. in an organic computer? What is your thought to pessimistic approaches to determinism?
Introguing, but that wasn't quite my idea on what I was saying. I was talking about pessimistic ideas on our will of choice.
My notions on it is that, while the universe is deterministic, our minds aren't modelable by any simple means. Causation of ourselves is so infinitely faceted that it's akin to determine what point in the universe an atom resided during the big bang. We're chaotically deterministic.
In terms of psychology, I have a super'ego: the capacity to analyze my impulses and choose actions based on long term outcome. That's choice enough for me
I like you mate. We'll be talking more. I can't help but agree with you, and commend your lack of juvenile-esque senseless pessimism that many people seem to throw themselves into in face of such questions.
Two questions, one of which I will need to make an observation to prefix. I think many people are scarred off from philosophy because, in a class or so, they encounter hugely daunting ideas like extreme skepticism, ethical issues, religious arguements, or dare I say it, meaning of life ideas, that are pessimistic in some sense, and they lack the proper facilities to cut through what is senseless and needlessly negative. What facilities have you developed? What do you do when someone throws a good old "it's all a hallucination in your head" idea at you, for instance?
I just saw the famous 'fan edit' for The Hobbit... I actually really enjoyed it. I was legitimately a bit heartbroken when Bilbo had to leave. Really felt... I'm not sure. I felt ponderously melancholic. A bit marooned and barroned at the idea of the pinnacle of one's life ever so suddenly coming to an end. What did you make of it?
I tend to look way beyond the depth of what was attempted in things. Have I told you that my plunge into Nietzcheism was sparked by an overly contemplative interpretation of How To Train Your Dragon 2? Lol.
It was truly crushing...such an eventful and memorable night. When they tried to start "Etna," apparently after playing a note on a guitar, the power went out. It took them and the venue around a half hour to 45 minutes to get it sorted. They ended up killing most of the lights to provide power to their equipment and skyscraper of amps. Jesse Sykes sounded gorgeous on "The Sinking Belle." The waves of bass during "Fried Eagle Mind" made my bones shake, and Wata's haunting vocals...perfect. Of course Atsuo did his usual fanservice as well – from stage diving to passing his gong around and letting us touch it.
A few years later, I saw Boris play an off date drum-less drone show at Saint Vitus Bar the night after their sold out Bowery Ballroom show on the Noise tour. I went to both, naturally. Night 2's set was basically what would become Gensho, minus "Akirame Flower," but they played "The Evilone Which Sobs"(!!). Atsuo was on noise...and tambourine during "Rainbow." :) Both shows ended with "Vomitself" which was more than I could've even asked for.
I've seen many great shows (bless NYC) but Boris continues to amaze. I just saw them on their Pink tour as well...I missed that one tour they did where they played "Flood," but I must say they've spoiled my city in the best ways.
Anyway, nice to meet ya, Blair. What is your favorite show? Have Boris or any other foreign bands given New Zealand some love?
Oh, the "touched by god" feeling...?

Good enough?
