First Part: The Spelling Guide - How to spell the Greek characters:
The Greek "Alphabet" is: (24 characters / 7 vowels & 17 consonants)
Α / α sounds like the "a" at the words "that", "man" or "tap"
Β / β sounds like the "v"
Γ / γ sounds like the "y" at the words "yes", "yellow" or "yet" (not precisely but close enough) or the "w" at the words "word", "world" or "wire" (closest spelling)
Δ / δ sounds like the consonant complex "th" at the words "the", "that" or "this"
Ε / ε sounds like the "e" at the words "the", "them" or "anthem"
Ζ / ζ sounds like the "z"
Η / η sounds like the "i" at the words "this", "is" or "it"
Θ / θ sounds like the consonant complex "th" at the words "Athens", "atheism", "path" or "anthem"
Ι / ι sounds like the "i" at the words "this", "is" or "it"
Κ / κ sounds like the "c" or "k" or the consonant complex "ck" at the words "clock", "rock", "Kate", "Kostas" or "coast"
Λ / λ sounds like the "l"

ΓΚ / γκ the same as "ΓΓ / γγ" (the best Romanize is the "gk")
ΓΧ / γχ the spelling simulation of this one is impossible (the best Romanize is the "gh" but it does not sounds like this English complex of consonant)
ΜΠ / μπ sounds like "b" or "mp" or "mb" (the best Romanize is the "mp")
ΝΤ / ντ sounds like "d" or "nt" or "nd" (the best Romanize is the "nt")
ΤΖ / τζ sounds like the "g" at the word "geology" or "j" at the word "jet" (the best Romanize is the "tz")

ΓΧ / γχ Romanize with gh (the "γχ" is very rare)
ΜΠ / μπ Romanize with mp - alternative with "mb" (avoid it) & only in some names with "b" (avoid it too)
ΝΤ / ντ Romanize with nt - never with "d" (this one goes to "δ") (except some official names like "Νταλάρας" -> "Dalaras")
ΤΖ / τζ Romanize with tz - never with "j" or "g"
ΤΣ / τσ Romanize with ts - never with "ch" or "tch"
