Auto battler
Genre
Auto battler is a type of strategy game that first came into prominence with the Dota 2 Auto Chess mod. Shortly after several other games were released such as Auto Chess (from the creators of the original mod), Dota Underlords, Teamfight Tactics (available as a game mode in League of Legends), and the Battlegrounds mode in Hearthstone.
The games consists of 8 players battling in a mini-tournament format. At the start of each phase players recruit minions and places them on a grid-shaped battlefield. After the preparation timer runs out, each player is faced with another player randomly and their minions battle it out automatically. The defeated player loses some life points and the goal is to be the last player standing. As the game advances players have the ability to increase their minion count or to upgrade their minions by having 3 of the same type.
