X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Uncaged Edition

XMEN Origins Wolverine is a pretty mediocre game. It tries to clone God of War in a lot of ways, but doesnt have the production values to back it up.

Visually it looks like a 2004 game even if it was released in 2009, and aesthetically its very bland as well.

Storywise it did nothing for me, but then again im not really a fan of XMEN.

Its gameplay consists of very basic hack n slash with some very easy puzzles thrown into the mix. The game is very linear, consisting mostly on a series of corridors and jungle paths, of which any side path is reserved for secrets/collectibles. The combo system is extremely basic, and there is little chance of connecting the different moves together. Much like in God of War in which the sucess lies within the square square triangle formula, Wolverines sucess lies within the ability of lounging towards enemies and locking them down on the ground. The enemy variety is extremely small, and the game doesnt restrict itself and throws waves of equal enemies at you. It doesnt make the game challenging at all, it only makes it boring. Its also a very clunky game to control, especially while jumping. I think i only died a few 2 times in combat sections in the game, mostly because the regeneration system is so generous.

I still managed to have some fun playing it, but it really is a very mediocre game. I couldnt even recommend it to fans of XMEN.
