Phantom Hourglass is an isometric Wind Waker sequel whose appeal lies in its touchscreen-reliant controls, making full use of the DS' gimmicks to conduct fairly simplified Zelda gameplay. As is the case with Four Swords: When its dungeon/world complexity is toned down for the sake of a novelty, the formula suffers. The inclusion of sluggish rail shooter elements to its world map make matters worse, ditto for its lame titular mechanic and the repetitive, stealth sequence-y central dungeon it's attached to, while the few interesting DS experiments are largely left unexplored. At least Wind Waker's sense of humor is intact.

Its a good game, I am a bit iffy on stylus movement but it doesn't stray from the overall scope of the game using the stylus. The game was made for the DS and I think it does its job well enough. solid 3 or 3.5
this is the only zelda game i ever truly loved, and its funny considering how often people bemoan and dislike it. ive played ocarina, botw, and a link between worlds and this is still the only one i feel id actively go back to.
Real torn on the visuals here. Most of the stuff that's trying to look like something from an existing Zelda game (Link, Tetra, the gorons, etc.) look hideous, but everything that was designed fresh for this even lower-poly artstyle looks great. Linebeck's the second best Zelda companion after Midna, and the Temple of the Ocean King is good, actually.
This was my first Zelda game. Not big on the series but I actually still like this one, it has a great sense of adventure and lots of charming pieces. They did the ocean right here
