The Godfather 2 is a pretty mediocre GTA clone, one which none the less has a few ideas of its own and is still somewhat enjoyable to play. Actually probably the only title i have ever platinumed.
It doesnt follow the story of the movie, and you follow as an upcoming gangster. The plot revolves around you acquiring factories of rival gang families and eventually start eliminating them of one by one. Its a very typical plot that manages to give you fuel to go on a map clearing rampage like Ubisoft likes you to do so much.
The gameplay is very average third person shooting. The auto aim option is turned on by default, and unfortunatly the game difficulty is also balanced with this in mind. I really dislike this about some console shooters, as it practically removes any sense of difficulty from the game. That said, the shooting is still enjoyable. In order to effectively kill enemy gang leaders you must execute them in a certain way, so its a bit more skillful in that sense. Not to mention that the gore and violence is enjoyable. Interrogating the factory owners is also good fun.
There are a couple of online modes, but they dont really work when everyone uses autoaim.
Its a very casual and easy sort of colectathon experience, and its great as that. Expecting anything more than it out of this game will leave you disapointed.

Has some interesting ideas but is held back by a mediocre plot and wonky gameplay. When I was younger I thought it was better than what Saint's Row and GTA were offering at the same time. Wild.
Damn, I used to love this game when it came out and I beat it without even owning it, purely from rental. Come to find out it's considered mid af haha ! I remember that it has a lot of interesting mechanics but they're mostly poorly executed and the story doesn't really save the day. I haven't played it since but it would be hard to recommend today, I still have great memories from it though !
The RTS mechanics are still great, though.
