The first game I ever bought with my own money, aged 11-- the Sega Genesis cartridge, from Kay Bee Toys at Berkeley Mall in Goldsboro, NC, for the princely sum of EIGHTY DOLLARS. My Dad took me there on one of his rare days off and lightly mocked me for "wasting my money on a computer game," knowing I'd saved for months to be able to buy it. Still one of my favorites from one of my favorite game series ever.

I've been playing through most of Capcom's fighting games in release order, and I feel like this is where their pixel art really started popping off. That opening animation of Ryu in that dark blue and pink light is so goddamn gorgeous, and Fei Long's footwork is deceptively impressive. The new fighters are all great too. Obviously Super Turbo is the real legendary version, but this is still a great entry.
