The game's kinda whatever, but that "lonely astronaut" flyer art is so deliciously moody.

For the sake of correcting the record, there's a pervasive rumor - apparently even adopted by Capcom itself, according to one of its character artbooks - that the US NES localization claimed the protagonist of this game was Captain Commando. That's not actually true, as you can see for yourself if you read the manual: https://archive.org/detail...age/n5/mode/2up

The manual states unambiguously that YOU are supposed to be the astronaut, though it does mention the Cap being involved in some nonspecific capacity.
