The bumping feeling you get as you desperately steer in tune to the radar; the swift gunplay that leaves no room for error; the feeling of desperation as you get pinned in the fog with your radar disabled, and your tank just keeps degrading, whew! This is the year 2019.
Robot Tank is to my estimate the Battlezone formula perfected. Even though there is always a single enemy tank you encounter at every given time, you will never be victim to cheap shots and you will always have the means of negating enemy missiles by shooting at them with your own. But what truly sets the game apart are the weather and degradation effects: Every play begins with a sunny landscape, only to evolve into a gloomy scenario where your tank gets slippery under the snow, or your vision is obscured due to fog or night, and to add more realism to the experience, there are moments of awesome system degradation: Your radar or steering systems get damaged and broken, and you have to use your wits to survive.
It's one of the best technical showcases the game could offer, and the way the game over screen glitches out reminds me of something demoscene producers would make. Highly recommended.
