the VSRG genre is at a weird place right now, there are your easily available surface level games such as Osu!mania and FNF which sacrifice customization for intuitivity with things such as Fixed rate mods and and then you have hyper customizable games such as Stepmania and Etterna which alienate the majority of players with Un-intuitive menus and wireframe reminiscent interface. And then there is quaver
Quaver strikes the perfect balance between easy to navigate interface and customization, but why? Skinning and song downloads are integrated (songs via a dedicated in game menu and skins via the Steam workshop) which is a massive quality of life improvement. The difficulty rating is probably the 2nd best there is right now (2nd to Etterna) I almost always feel like my best plays are properly represented in my top scores list although I feel like longer maps and maps featuring long notes should be more properly represented. I cant comment on the multiplayer as I have not played it that much but from other peoples experiences, Its good. Although this is more thanks to the community of mappers but the song selection is always fun and offers a wide variety of songs as opposed to overblown shitpost beats or the 3rd ranked anime 3 star theme song this week.
In my opinion the best 4key VSRG out right now.
