I really enjoyed playing it but man I can't shake the Doom comparison.
If the devs put all this visual style and polish into something more unique they'd probably nail it. Maybe next time?

The level design in this game is super boring, and the way respawning works is just baffling. If those two things were fixed, this game would be pretty awesome.

  Ok, it still is pretty awesome, and it seems they diversified the settings a bit in the newer levels (that's what I meant to say by level design). I think it's the really industrial shading and lighting in this game that keeps even the more unique areas from standing out to all the factories, facilities, etc.

almost everything this game does is unoriginal, doing something other games in this style have done before but a lot better, and the "original" ideas here are the worst things about it, like the shitty progression system, the baffling checkpoint system or any of the enemies that aren't a direct copy from Doom

but I guess you can have fun with it if you like the style, and the game does looks incredible. I was just expecting more.
