all my homies hate gamefreak, as exquisite connesieurs of the RPG genre we only play rpg maker asset flips. and this is easily the best of the bunch, takes the absolute mountain of mechanics that pokemon company has continuously refused to do anything interesting with and extrapolates it on a beast of a 100-hour long rpg. nerdy shit like EVs and natures suddenly become essential tools to consider as the game goes on to become hard as balls. the gym leaders turned into several-days long marathons of banging your head aganist a concrete wall sometimes, but provided a shitton of clutch last-second victories. the relief after experiencing the nail-biting tension of watching the leader's last pokemon flipping some absurdly unfair shit is really hard to compare with anything else. it's remarkable how similarily it plays to the best that shin megami tensei has to offer
