It's dead and I don't feel anything.
I remember being so hyped for this one, MMO NFS was a dream come true, it was a great idea on paper, but when I finally tried it for the first time just few weeks after the 2010 launch, the mediocrity hit me hard.

I remember returning to it that year at least three times for a weekend session or so. I really tried to like it, right now I cannot pinpoint what exactly was wrong with it, but I remember feeling a mix of boredom, unfulfillment and frustration. After installing and uninstalling each time, it just left me unsatisfied, but thankfully I had my PS2 and both Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Need for Speed: Carbon, which were much better experiences even without the online play.

After that I came back to it at least two times between 2011 and 2015 (those were longer play sessions, like a day or two, I tried playing it a bunch more times, but those plays didn't last past 5 or 10 minutes each), and while the game did receive some changes, nothing was really done to convince me to keep playing. And it was even worse, since I was true free player (high school student with like 20€ to his name) and the advantage paying players had was noticeable, and that even killed my interest for the whole franchise until like 2019.

And then it was killed off in 2015 and I just couldn't care, in the 5 years or so it was alive, it failed to impress me multiple times. However, if you would still like to play it and without microtransactions, there is a working private server. I don't have the will or energy to try it out, but at least we have a way to play it.

    This game is actually decent now that the micro transactions got removed and progression got better

    Yep love just having the ability to own just about anything I ever wanted in the game. I even have the offline singleplayer mod for it.
