Title
It's not always as fluid and intuitive as the console's basketball king through '98, Courtside, but NBA Jam 99 might have a slight edge over it regardless. Its high resolution and clean visuals make it perhaps the best-looking sports game released on the console to this point, provided you ignore the cardboard crowd, and the detailed commentary is impressive. Fortunately, the game maintains a perfectly reasonable framerate, a common failing of many of the other basketball games available on the N64. Typically, Jam has both sim and arcade modes, but also plenty of options, numerous camera angles and a comprehensive replay function. Most importantly, it plays and controls well and isn't difficult to get into, suitable for both novices and hardcore fans.
