MLB 06: The Show

Oh yes, there was a time period which now feels like another lifetime ago where I used to be obsessed with baseball, it was after my cities MLB team won the World series for the first time in my life, and I would watch our team play almost every other day with my dad and we'd watch the MLB playoffs and World series. As a side thing I'd collect baseball cards and even tried out for the high school team although I was terrible and hadn't played baseball in around 10 years before that, so I didn't make the team. And well I remember buying this game at Walmart with my 8th grade graduation money and I just loved it. It was one of the best baseball games at the time and had smooth controls, all the players with updated roosters, the classic organ music, and announcers who had a ton of dialog and comments. It almost felt like you were playing in a real MLB game. Yeah looking back the series has improved a lot and come a long way since then, but this was the first true good baseball game. Plus the soundtrack was pretty memorable too. I really liked some of the bonus modes this had too. Sure this game overall was a bit bare bones, but it did let you play through a regular MLB season, create your own players, and back in 06 this was pretty revolutionary. Yeah if you don't like baseball this game will suck, and I don't really care much for baseball anymore, but it still holds a ton of nostalgia.
