Killzone 2

no one really talks about killzone anymore outside of mega-fans and people who are like "look at this weird sony franchise no one remembers!" and it's a shame because killzone offers a very striking image and deep world design but it's buried under what was once considered an innovative technical achievement but is now just a mess to play. killzone 2 certainly looks and sounds very good, even to this day, but the second you start playing it feels more like a ps1 game going for 'realistic movement' but failing. it's not as bad but there's definitely a delay in your actions and it makes for a clunky experience. on top of that, there's also a lot of visual design like your iron sight and gun swaying, or the animation for pulling out a knife for melee that look really good but make the game slower and harder to play. this game got hard for me in the later sections because of it. i feel like the entire killzone series suffers from being visually impressive but difficult to go back to and that's why no one talks about it. people still talk about halo 3 and gears of war 2, the 2 closest contemporary games from microsoft that share similar elements to killzone, and i think it's because those games both had innovative gameplay and technical design without having to choose one or the other like killzone 2 did. i only recommend this to people who really wanna play killzone or experience a game that looks really good, but be warned it is not very fun to play

Mostly notable as one of the Playstation 3's claims to graphical supremacy during the great console fanboy wars of its generation, Killzone 2 is a thoroughly generic late-oughts big budget space marine shooter remarkable only for its bygone eye candy and a shocking amount of control input lag that gives its gameplay a lumbering, sluggish feel.
