Jumping Flash, as an early foray into 3D on a brand new console, is convincing and still impressive. Its large, open, sandbox-style worlds are yours to explore as Robbit, a robotic rabbit with the ability to triple-jump and fire lasers and other weapons at enemies. The goal is to collect 'jet pods' scattered throughout before exiting each level, mastering Robbit's movement and triple-jump the key to doing so. And movement is perhaps the area in which the game has aged most poorly--it's an early example of how desperately analog sticks were needed in the jump to 3D. Navigating these environments is sluggish and unpleasant with a d-pad. Nonetheless, this and other quirks such as the game's apparent inability to correctly save progress aside, Jumping Flash is an interesting look at the beginnings of 3D on PlayStation.
