Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix [GBA/DS]

As bad as the movie got, at least they all remained faithful to the books which is more than I can say about their game tie ins, this arguably being the worst of the bunch (that I played at least since I didn't bother with the later entries) as this feels more like an interactive edutainment game rather than a satisfying game adaptation of a popular film.

My biggest issue here is the lack of gameplay as this feels like a precursor to Hogwarts mysteries with how little this game has to offer. At least that game has plenty of activities you can do (provided you can stomach the cool down that permeates that game) this on the other hand has the basic mechanics of that game only more simplified to the point where even the most casual gamer will find it boring. The story doesn't even try to follow that of the film or the book, instead taking the basic plot elements and using them to tell its own story. This admittedly has been the case with the other games in the franchise, however it's especially tedious here due to frequent load times and uninteresting gameplay. I guess what little gameplay there is here does work properly which is good because it utilises the ds mechanism with some of the minigames (such as blowing on the screen which I've seen other games utilise poorly) it's just the games are so simplistic that again, they make Hogwarts mystery seem sophisticated by comparison.

It's not an awful tie in, just one that's little more than a gimmick and that's since been outclassed by an infamous microtransaction riddled mobile game.
