Girl's Garden

In Girl's Garden, you play a woman with an inferiority complex that leads her to seek death in the wild at the hands of hungry bears, all for the sake of picking flowers for the bouqet to win her beloved back from an evil mistress.

It's quite simplistic, and you walk around the flower patches picking up whatever flowers are in full bloom until you get ten of them(while premature or wilted flowers will not add to it), while dodging bears who can chase you from afar. Luckily you can distract them by leaving your(fast-disappearing) supply of honey.

Every now and then a honeybee comes along which sometimes leaves useful bonuses: Like extra bundles of flowers, an extra life, or more jars of honey, but more frequently it adds Pac-Man fruits which only award points. After every 2nd stage there is a bonus round where you jump over bears in a Circus Charlie fashion, and the flower graphics cycle every four stages.

It's an arcade game through and through, and Yuji Naka's first word which he made for experimental purposes, but which Sega insisted on publishing. It's a very limited in scope, and that the frustrating narrow passages that would get you killed by bears or have to take wilted flowers is a dubious game design choice, but all things considered I think it manages to beat out most of the generic arcade ports on, say, Colecovision and on the Intellivision to a great extent.
