Mechanically speaking this is one of the most bog-standard JRPGs I've ever played, and the dungeon-crawling gets fucking exhausting after only the first couple. That said, the sheer amount of personality and charm leaking from every other part of this game still makes it worth a play if you really like Goemon. The sense of humor and general attitude really remind me of the Mother games, and that's kind of shocking to me considering only the first of those had come out by this point.
