Deadly 30

Deadly 30 is a zombie apocalypse survival game where you have to survive 30 days. You start off controlling a soldier character equipped with a gun and are introduced to your base area. The controls are WASD to move, mouse is used for aiming and shooting. E is used to interact, and R is to reload. Double tap A or D to lunge forward.
Zombies are frequent but passive, but as night-time comes, then hordes attack. The idea is that you explore and go on the offensive and gather scrap during the day (used as currency), then retreat to base to defend during the night.

A few new zombie types introduced over the game. Some are simply tougher, but then there's the fat one that explodes toxic which hinders your view. Dogs can quickly pounce, and crows attack from above.

The game only has a few areas, so there's a cave, cornfields, the base in the woods, snow area, and castle. Each time you move to one of these areas, it's like exploring a different area with that theme; so you can scavenge supplies, then return to that themed area the next day and scavenge more supplies. There's not much to see in the areas though. There are a few vehicles here and there that you can salvage a lot of scrap from but you encounter these at random.

At your base, you can purchase better guns, replenish ammo, medi-packs, upgrade armour and boots, and purchase/upgrade base defences such as Fence, Turrets and Crates.

As the days progress, you will encounter a couple of other soldiers who join your party for a total of 3. You can switch between the characters who have a different type of gun; assault-rifle, rifle, and shotgun. The other players are controlled by the computer.

The AI isn't too smart. They do follow you pretty well, but when defending your base, they seem to do their own thing which can lead to their deaths which is a huge handicap. When defending on the ground, Zombies can attack from both sides. If you go upstairs, then they only can come through the door, giving you a big advantage. However, the AI can decide to take them on the ground floor, forcing you to come down to assist them. Once you have your defences up to block the Zombies entering your base, then this isn't a problem, because the Zombies won't be attacking your party directly.

Given that the game is all about moving left or right, I found it hard to see where the scope for skill was. It didn't seem to matter which direction you choose to explore, and you can't even go that far before having to make your way back for the night. Shooting enemies seemed straightforward, and your character automatically switches to a knife for close combat, although then it seemed a bit random if you get hit or not. You could say there's a bit of skill choosing when to reload, but there were plenty of times where too many zombies seemed to spawn which means there was no way of taking them down without reloading, but you can't really back off, given that zombies will be attacking from the other direction too.

So what this all means is that it is a bit too simplistic, and your fate seems to come down to luck. It's very shallow without much scope for different play-styles/tactics.
