Casper: Friends Around the World

I remember getting this game as a kid for Christmas one year, we already had the other Casper game on PS1, the one where you explore a big mansion and solve puzzles. This game is a lot different, its a basic 2D platformer, and you essentially have 2 moves, floating and throwing balls at enemies. This game isn't so bad as it is forgettable. It actually does offer some challenge and has some hidden items and collectibles. The controls and platforming aren't too terrible, although the floating mechanics are a bit stiff. I think the biggest problem is the game is just way too linear and it doesn't have good enough design to stand out, so many levels just end up feeling too similar. The game hardly has any enemies to fight and most of the challenge just comes from the platforming. Friends around the World is a pretty average game that is really not worth playing, I thought the other Casper game was way better, but this still wasn't a bad game for its time, it just has aged pretty poorly and nothing about it stands out at all, even as a kid I felt the game was just average, but it does still bring back a tiny bit of nostalgia for when I was a kid around Christmas.
