Title
Burnout 3: Takedown was the game that brought this series into the limelight, and for good reason. The first thing you see when you pop in Burnout 3 is that perfect intro set to Lazy Generation. The first thing you're greeted with when you pop in Burnout 2 is a mandatory tutorial.
Burnout 2 feels like, at best, a prototype for Burnout 3. It feels like Burnout 3 with all the best parts missing. The presentation is lackluster, there's no licensed soundtrack, and you can't even take down your fellow racers. There's a crash mode, and racing is fine. The problem is that the game merely feels competent. There's nothing to it that would even suggest that Burnout 3 would be so great. There's also no reason to play this game even in 2002 when Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 came out the very next day.
The good news is that the PSP version of Burnout Legends contains tracks from Burnout 1 and 2, but plays like Burnout 3. I would highly recommend playing Legends over this.

Title
Heads and shoulders above the original. More cars, more tracks, more game types, and a focus on a retuned boost system that made sense and drew attention to the risk/reward set-up of the entire series. Still, the magic was not quite there yet...
