The story of the magical girl who wanted to dance again
Blue Reflection is a game that was obviously inspired by magical girl shows. We play Hinako Shirai, a high school girl who used to be a ballet prodigy before injuring her knee a year prior to the game. After a certain event, we find ourselves in a different realm, where we are supposed to fight monsters in order to protect girls whose emotions are going berserk and might even cause them to do horrible things (see the girl who nearly jumped off the rooftop because of her dead dog). Magical girl fans, like myself, will find that this game is more or less aimed at them for a couple of reasons: the game doesn't let you train in order to power-up, you have to help girls with their problems to do so. The game is also heavily focused on the main characters interaction with the rest of the cast. The game doesn't expect you to be "good" at fighting games or video games in general, you will pass a lot of time doing the same couple strategies to beat enemies and you don't need to really learn any combo, mechanics or even dynamics between the characters. It's good if you understand how to enhance what attacks, but they teach you all the important things as soon as you can use them. The game is very similar to a visual novel, as it mostly stands out because of its cut-scenes, music and art. The game-play is very repetitive and simple, you can even skip a fair amount of game-play by teleporting to the room of the next quest, if you'd like. Like I said, this game heavily focuses on the characters and their interactions, Hinako's grows, how she handles her new responsibility, her injury and how she gets herself out of the hole she was stuck in. I don't think this game has what it takes for me to say that everyone should or could play and enjoy it, it's more a game for a certain group of people and niche. I enjoyed this game a lot, mainly because I'm the exact type of person for this game, I loved every part of it but I also know that I'm one of the few people who did, so check out the game for yourself, if my review made you interested.

The only thing I disliked was that at the end of Chihiro's story part, we got a small fight between the twins that I think should've been dragged out and detailed more because it posed a very important moral question. Maybe they couldn't do it because it was too early in the game to reveal such important things but I really think it could've added to the story.

Pretty bad. It's a very pretty JRPG but there's nearly no point for battles since experience is gained from just doing side quests for people around the school. Not really many areas to explore either along with a time system that makes no sense and has no real consequences as far as choices go. The only real reason to play Blue Reflection is for the story, and that's a pretty big if depending on how much you can stomach something that's pretty slow and emotional based and very ""anime"".
Soundtrack is awesome, but you can just look that up on YouTube or whatever anyway.
I'd give it a lower score but you can tell there was some effort involved despite the Monopoly money budget, just sucks that Gust focused so much on style and not substance here. Regardless I'd pass on this one and just watch a longplay or something if you were really curious.
