One hell of a tough game, perhaps too hard but really fun none the less. I played it religiously with a friend and after million tries we still never beat the turbo tunnel, which is only stage 3. Damn. Still holds a special place in my heart. The graphics are charming and the music is pretty good. I came to peace with the fact that i'll most likely never beat it ... but it's also what has me coming back to it every time !

After owning this game since like age 5 and never having gotten past the third level, I finally beat it with save states on NSO. Even then, the final three levels are insanely punishing and still difficult even with save states.
I wish these old Battletoads games were mostly like the first two levels, which still kick so much ass and held up really well. Graphics and soundtrack are still killer and really carry this game.
