Bare bones and somewhat incomprehensible fantasy/RPG-lite idler/autobattler; the static cute-pixel UI belies a perfectly opaque gameplay loop with no tutorial, tooltips, story, or simple motivating impulse. Despite being an idler by design, advancing in Autocraft is very hands on: you'll clear the achievement portfolio in 2-3 hours with minimal effort and attention. There is ostensibly no end an Autocraft run, outside of an Ascension reset option that incrementally boosts your base attack/defense stats at the cost of your current level.
Your choices (inputs, really) are upgrading your shield with a set of RNG currency for stat bonuses; upgrading your passive regen and HP with gold; choosing and upgrading a Glove for resistance and drop bonuses; and working through a minimally helpful skill tree with an XP-adjacent "Essence" currency. My biggest gripe here is that an entire wing of the game--the "Boss" battle option--is broken, as these fights do not drop the currency that feeds into the (unavailable) Ring enhancement buff. The XP and gold-doubling potions essential, do not properly scale price with use, and feel like an afterthought. The options might sound full-featured, but they don't make the inaction of the main screen any more interesting or rewarding.
Game ends at level 10,000 by virtue of obtaining the last Achievement; I stopped at level 60,000 as there was demonstrably nothing left to do. I understand that "AAA" indie idlers like Realm Grinder are a much more demanding experience, but I'd go so far to recommend a truly barbarous time-sink like Adventure Capitalist over this for the sheer possibility (and relief!) of achieving milestones/progression (and a sorely needed sense of humor when bothering with this genre). But as Autocraft's been removed from the Steam store, it's moot point, set, match.
