By point-and-click standards, it's not a bad game, even if it is all too brief (like really brief), and those expecting a follow-up to The Neverhood won't be totally disappointed - it still has the same flair for aesthetics, the same sense of humor and the same general logic to most of the puzzles - but it is at once both an improvement in terms of the quality of the puzzles and a downgrade in terms of space to explore and non-linearity. Also, it's really buggy and a lot of core mechanics are not explained in game very well, if at all. There are even some signs (like the lack of customary character animations when you try to do certain things which would elicit certain responses from the player character in other games of this nature) of oversight and incompleteness to it. I was surprised by the harsh negative reactions from backers on its release, but then I suppose they were expecting something more polished and substantial, considering the dev team had close to a cool million raised from Kickstarter before going into this - it sure doesn't seem like a production that'd cost a million dollars. I guess you could say this is Mighty No. 9 all over again, a promising project which became hamstrung by mismanagement during its development. This is not to say that Armikrog is totally unenjoyable, but for how much time and money the team had to work on it - and for how much it costs on the Steam store, even for the relatively low price of $25 - there's not a lot of bang for your buck.
