Sold Out Software
Game company
Sold Out Software was a publishing company that focused on re-issuing legacy PC games at a budget price point in the UK, typically at £4.99 per game, or 3 games for £10.
They were acquired by fellow budget publisher Mastertronic Games in 2004. Mastertronic continued to use the Sold Out branding following this acquisition, retaining the previous price structure, and expanding it into mainland Europe from 2005 onwards. Mastertronic folded in November 2015 following a period of bankruptcy, spelling the end of Sold Out Software.
Meanwhile, original Sold Out founder Garry Williams launched a new company named Sold Out Sales & Marketing Limited in 2014 with James Cato. This new company acts as a consultancy and distribution firm, partnering with publishers including Double Eleven and Team17. This new company was later renamed to Fireshine Games in March 2022.
